Since 2012, we have provided support for those touched by Bipolar Disorder. We are there for both the struggles and the triumphs.
Online Support Group sessions
We’re happy to announce that we’ve transitioned to online support group meetings so that we can continue to meet and support each other while in-person meetings aren’t possible due to coronavirus. The platform we use for meetings is Google Meet - which is free for our members and easy to use on a variety of devices.
We offer sessions on Sundays. We sometimes have additional events outside of our usual schedule, and the events page on our private Facebook group will list these as they arise. Use the button below to see what we’re up to.
Our Purpose
The purpose of Laura’s group is to provide a safe environment where those touched by bipolar disorder can share their struggles and triumphs while feeling supported by fellow group members.
No matter where you are on your journey living with bipolar, this group is for you. Yes, you. Newly diagnosed? Yup. Finally decided to accept your diagnosis and get on meds? Yup. Feeling isolated and like nobody understands your ups and downs? Yup. Living your best life out there in the world, but need a place to vent about your ups and downs? Have a loved one with bipolar and want to talk to people who “get it?” Yup. New to town and wanna make some new friends who understand your diagnosis? Yup! There are other groups around town that deal with a wider variety of mental health challenges, but if you’re looking for one specifically for bipolar disorder, then you found us. Yay!
Note: If you’re in the process of being diagnosed with bipolar, you are welcome to attend. If you have bipolar and an assortment of other things like anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD, then you’re in good company here. Multiple diagnoses are really common for folks with bipolar. However, if you are diagnosed with unipolar depression, then there are other groups better suited for your particular needs and situation.
Statement of Inclusion
June 19th, 2020
The impact of systemic racial and social oppression and injustice on mental health is staggering and pervasive. Laura’s Group stands in solidarity with the black community and echoes NAMI and the Hogg Foundation in their stance against systemic racism and police brutality. Mental health is the central purpose of our group and we want to ensure we are supporting our black community well. As a peer-to-peer support group, we know that sharing our struggles with each other is a very powerful thing, a very healing thing. It helps you to know that you are not alone and that others care about how you feel.
We are an inclusive group, welcoming people from all cultures, backgrounds, and races to provide support for those touched by bipolar disorder.
We have added resources for different cultures, backgrounds, races, genders, and sexual orientations to aid on your mental health journey.
Laura’s Group is also very happy to celebrate with our LGBTQIA+ community and the DACA program Dreamers since the Supreme Court rulings during the week of June 15, 2020. This is a great step forward for LGBTQIA+ rights and innocent immigrant children. We hope for more wins like this in the future for our LGBTQIA+ members.
We are always happy to hear from you and answer questions about our group.
